What CHIPS Alliance does
The CHIPS Alliance develops high-quality, open source hardware designs relevant to silicon devices and FPGAs. By creating an open and collaborative environment, CHIPS Alliance shares resources to lower the cost of development. Companies and individuals can work together to develop open source CPUs, various peripherals, and complex IP blocks. CHIPS Alliance is open to all organizations who are interested in collaborating on open source hardware or software tools to accelerate the creation of more efficient and innovative chip designs.
Executive Director Role
The Executive Director (ED) of CHIPS Alliance is a technology and community leader passionate about nurturing an open source hardware ecosystem. They are charged with evangelizing the CHIPS Alliance mission; reaching out to the hardware, EDA and semiconductor community to foster engagement & collaboration; and to grow the CHIPS Alliance membership. The ED is expected to work closely with the open source community and to drive activities, such as workshops, meetups and conferences. The technical work of CHIPS Alliance reports to the ED through the Technical Steering Committee. The ED position is initially part-time and, with sufficient growth in membership, compensation can expand to be equivalent to a full-time position.
The ED reports to the CHIPS Alliance Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience working in the semiconductor industry.
- A proven record growing and managing a technology organization.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience managing partnerships.
